Partnership Update:

“I wish for you discomfort…”

 “I wish for you discomfort…”

St. John’s MCC invited Partnership Executive Director, Kim Crawford to speak at their Sunday morning worship service on July 11, 2021.

In the cold months of 2020, working with Kim and the Partnership, Reverend Vance and St. John’s congregation opened their hearts and sacred space to become a temporary shelter during the White Flag operations. Reverend Vance continues to support the Partnership. We are appreciative of opportunities to share our story and educate the larger community on the critical role the Raleigh Wake Partnership plays in the effort to end homelessness in Wake County.

Kim ended her talk with this blessing:

“May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and turn their pain to joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done. Amen.” ~unknown
