Service Providers looking for permanent housing

Full caseload? Feeling Overwhelmed?

Need safe, affordable housing for your clients?

Let us help!

The Housing Navigation Unit (HNU) handles property management engagement and acquires properties that work with the homeless response system’s housing programs. By streamlining the housing search process,  you can focus on what you do best– supportive services and housing stability!

Here’s how it works

The HNU leverages collaboration at a systems level. By coordinating housing opportunities and housing programs, Wake County can get men, women, and children out of homelessness faster.

REFER Using HMIS, refer your client to HNU.

SEARCH The HNU database, Padmission, offers search and filter functions so you can match your client’s needs and housing program with available properties. Send properties an inquiry directly through Padmission.

VISIT Once the Property Manager accepts the referral, set up a time for a walk through and inspect the unit using the Minimum Habitability Standards Inspection.

LEASE Support the client through the leasing process. Be sure to upload your  Minimum Habitability Standards Inspection and lease in HMIS.

PAY Once the paperwork is in, HNU will send the sign-on bonus directly to the property manager. Any financial assistance from the housing program should be paid directly to the property manager as well.

Communicate Stay in touch with HNU and the landlord. Let us know how it’s going. Any important changes–let us know!

Respond Mitigate any concerns with the property/tenant and provide housing stabilization supports. Successful permanent housing requires strong partnerships between programs, tenants, and HNU.

If you have any questions or would like more information,
please contact the HOUSE WAKE! HNU at (919) 443-0097 or HW_HNU@partnershipwake.org.

HNU utilizes Padmission, our web-based housing search platform for homeless services organizations to assist individuals and families in their housing search. Case Managers, Navigators, and other supportive services providers can search for available properties, view listed properties, and send inquiries to property management about their listings.
